What is the MyPoints Toolbar?

The MyPoints Toolbar lets you easily search the Web. It makes searching easy and more accurate because it doesn't just use one search engine - you're actually searching Google and Yahoo! Search at the same time, which ensures that you receive the most relevant results. The MyPoints Toolbar also keeps track of your MyPoints account by displaying your total Points and Search count on the toolbar. Please note that your Search count is updated each calendar day.

How can I view my search count for this month?

You can see your total monthly web search count displayed on the MyPoints Toolbar and at the top of every MyPoints Web Search Results page. Click here to go directly to the MyPoints Search Results Page. Please note that your web search count is updated on a daily basis so you will see all your searches up to the previous day.
Also remember that clicking on the "Search MyPoints" button next to the search bar on the MyPoints site helps members find merchants and offers on the MyPoints site. These searches are not eligible for Points.

You will need to click on the "Search Web" button to perform an eligible web search.

How do I start earning Points from searching the Web with the MyPoints Toolbar?

Download and install the MyPoints Toolbar—it only takes a few seconds. The toolbar will appear at the top of your Internet browser window. To earn Points, enter a search term in the MyPoints Toolbar search box and click on the "Search" button or hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

How many Points do I earn for my Web searches?

First, you earn 100 easy Points when you successfully download the search toolbar and use it to search online for the first time. Then earn more Points for the Web searches you make using either the MyPoints Toolbar, the MyPoints browser search, or the Web search bar on MyPoints.com. Each month, you can get:

1 Point for 1-10 searches

10 Points for 11-25 searches

50 Points for 26-40 searches

100 Points for 41 or more searches

MyPoints awards your Points at the end of each month. If you don't see all the Points you thought you'd earned, please contact Member Services.

How do I search the Web with the MyPoints Toolbar?

Just to the right of the logo in your MyPoints Toolbar, type in your search term then click on the "Search" button or hit "Enter" on your keyboard. Your search results will appear in the browser window. It's that simple!

Is the MyPoints Toolbar compatible with all browsers and operating systems?

The MyPoints Toolbar is compatible with Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9 and 10 on systems running Windows XP, Vista, 7 and FireFox 3.6+ on Mac OS X, and XP, Vista and 7. It is not supported on Internet Explorer 11 or beta versions of browsers. To check what version of Internet Explorer you currently have, click "Help" and then "About Internet Explorer" in the Internet Explorer menu bar.

Can I download the MyPoints Toolbar on my Chrome browser?

Unfortunately the MyPoints Toolbar is not yet available for the Chrome browser. As soon as it does become available we will send out an announcement email. Until then please note that you can still make eligible web searches on the Chrome browser using the Web Search bar on the MyPoints site (located at the top of every MyPoints page).

I installed the MyPoints Toolbar but I do not see it on my browser. What should I do?

To confirm that you have successfully installed the new MyPoints Toolbar, simply click on your browser's View button and select "Toolbars". If you see "MyPoints Toolbar" listed under Toolbars then you have successfully installed our new MyPoints Toolbar.
If you do not see MyPoints Toolbar listed then we suggest you re-visit the Download Toolbar page and carefully follow Steps 1 and 2 on how to properly download and activate the Toolbar. To restart your browser, simply close the existing browser and reopen a new one to activate the new Toolbar. Click here to go to the Toolbar download page.

Does the MyPoints Toolbar affect my browser or my other add-ons?

No, the MyPoints Toolbar is designed to run without affecting any other system add-ons. The MyPoints Toolbar will do periodic checks to see if there are any software updates. Small updates that affect settings or Web addresses happen automatically and will not interrupt your browsing. Major changes may require you to install an update to the MyPoints Toolbar. In that case, the MyPoints Toolbar will show an update message and give you the option to install the new version. No personal information is passed along in this process. If you have personal firewall software installed, it may notify you that the MyPoints Toolbar is trying to access the Internet. That is how the MyPoints Toolbar stays up to date. You should set your firewall software to allow this.

Yes. Internet Explorer and Firefox will support multiple Toolbars.

Help! Why am I receiving errors when I try to install the MyPoints Toolbar?

If you receive strange errors when trying to install the MyPoints Toolbar, you may not have the proper administrative privileges on your computer. Before installing the MyPoints Toolbar, make sure that you are using the computer's administrator account. If problems persist, contact the administrator to install the MyPoints Toolbar for you.

How do I uninstall the MyPoints Toolbar?

To uninstall the MyPoints Toolbar from your Internet Explorer or Firefox browser you have two options. You can either:


    A) From the toolbar logo dropdown, choose "Uninstall Toolbar"
  • or
  • B) Open your computer's Control Panel then select "Add or Remove Programs."
  • - Find MyPoints in the list of installed applications and click on it.
  • - Click on the "Change/Remove" button.

  • Firefox users can also uninstall the MyPoints Toolbar by going to your browser's Tools dropdown menu and selecting Add-ons. There you can select the MyPoints Toolbar (which Firefox considers an add-on) and either disable or uninstall.

    Lastly, you will need to restart your browser to complete the uninstall operation.

    If when attempting to uninstall the MyPoints toolbar you get an error message, we recommend that you install the MyPoints toolbar again and then follow the above uninstall directions. Click here to re-install the MyPoints Toolbar.

    Please note that when installing the MyPoints Toolbar, MyPoints Web Search is also automatically added to your browser's list of Search Engines (you will see the MyPoints 'three triangles' logo when it's being used). This is separate from the actual MyPoints Toolbar and is not removed when you uninstall the Toolbar. To remove the MyPoints Web Search, click on the logo to the left of the search window and select Manage Search Engine List from the dropdown. Then select "Web Search" and click on the Remove button.

    Why am I getting a notification that my search is invalid?

    We use sophisticated algorithms to determine valid searches in accordance with our search providers! If you are not credited for your searches it means they have been flagged as invalid. Please understand that the current status is not permanent. You will receive credit for your searches if you continue to search naturally throughout your day.

    How can I view my search count for previous months?

    You can view the total number of qualifying searches for a previous month (as far back as 6 months) by locating the "Monthly Qualifying Searches" Earn activity type in question in your Account Statement. Then click on the activity to see the "See all related transactions" link. Clicking on that link will allow you to see all the corresponding "MyPoints Toolbar" Action activity types. Match the "Posted Date" and you can view your total qualifying searches for that month in the Notes field.

    Why isn't my MyPoints Toolbar counting ALL of my searches and my statistics have been reset to zero?

    If your MyPoints Toolbar has suddenly stopped counting your searches and/or your statistics seem to have been reset, you may have been logged out of the MyPoints Toolbar. You should log out and back in to the MyPoints Toolbar.

    The MyPoints Toolbar counter automatically reset at the start of each month. When you login to your MyPoints Toolbar you should see your complete activity history for the month.
